“If you are looking for the perfect intimate venue to hold a small wedding reception/wedding breakfast, then look no further than the Fox & Hounds at Ainthorpe. This was the setting for our daughter, Katy’s wedding breakfast on Saturday 17th August 2013. The food was excellent (a traditional Sunday lunch!) the staff were friendly, cheerful and professional throughout the afternoon and nothing was too much trouble. Special thanks to Sarah and Rachel for their help and guidance with the preparations both on the day and in the weeks prior to the wedding, we really couldn’t have managed without you!
The immediate surrounding area is perfect for photographs (if the weather is kind to you!) however the inside of this lovely old inn lends itself to some very romantic photo opportunities and shouldn’t be overlooked! Once again thanks to Adrian and all the staff at The Fox of Hounds for making our special day, extra special”

We stayed at the Pub hotel with our family when my daughter got married at the nearby Danby Castle, the Landlord Adrian and his assistant, I think she was called Sarah, went out of their way to organise the 5 rooms over two days with various changes of guests, nothing was too much trouble. Sarah made it feel as if she had it all in hand with the complications involved, room changes, shared rooms for bridesmaids to get ready etc..
One party lost their key returning at 12.30 at night, had to knock the landlord up next door, he turned up with a smile on his face saying it was a pleasure to be of assistance, he then went on to search the kitchen to provide a flask of cold milk for our grandson to be feed in the morning, all done without making us feel as if we were putting him out in anyway what so ever, marvellous!
The last day we had guests that came down over an hour late for breakfast, we were all hanging around after having finished and still they were offered a full breakfast even though it was unexpected.
There rooms are freshly made over, clean well decorated, Tv, shower or bath, comfy beads with nice linen & warm, what more could you want and the price is moderate to say that you get a great breakfast included.
We were staying over a bank holiday, had tried around finding that most establishments insisted on a two night stay, where as the Fox & Hounds would accept a single night booking which some of our friends took advantage of.
We had a meal the night before, for our close family who were staying at the hotel and traveling from nearby, we were provided with the end private dining room to have for ourselves a part of 15, even though it was a busy night at the restaurant & lovely bar, which has open fires, cosy corners and great atmosphere.
We will definitely return to stay sometime even though it is only an hour from where we live, it’s a great place to have a family gathering, fantastic views of the North Yorkshire moors, a few miles to the seaside, Whitby, Sands End, Saltburn on Sea, Brunswick bay.

Just a few words to say thank you to you and all your staff for a fantastic
weekend we have experienced at the ‘Fox and Hounds’.
The accommadation was first class and the food has been the best we
have had on our travels, I must say the breakfasts were top notch.
Give your staff a pat on the back as they were very courteous and friendly
with nothing too much trouble for them.
On chatting with my friends and all their comments I’m sure we will be visiting
the ‘Fox and Hounds’ again, can’t wait.
Good luck and very best regards,

Dear Adrian and all at the Fox & Hounds,
We had a splendid day yesterday – the weather stayed dry for our walks and we all thoroughly enjoyed your stunning countryside. The day was rounded off in true fashion by supper at the Fox & Hounds Inn and we wanted to record a sincere ‘thank you’ to you and your great team for looking after us so well. The quality of the beer, the food, the welcome and the service were truely appreciated by all – without exception.
The management of such a large group always generates some organisational issues – folks not advising their menu requests, pulling out late (or even adding to numbers at the last minute), and the sudden gluten free request etc.etc. The Fox & Hounds took everything in their stride with admirable calmness, and especial thanks for this.
I have been a regular, although sadly infrequent, visitor to your pub for many many years and I look forward to seeing you again. Hopefully others from our group now do the same.
From Phil Roser and myself, as organisers, and all our members and guests, many thanks again for everything.
And I hope we weren’t too noisy!
